The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), is an international organisation founded in 1993. The council stimulates sustainable forest management. FSC has been composing worldwide standards and norms, linked to a certificate, for forest management. There are 10 basic FSC-principles for responsible management for forest owners can acquire certification if their forest meets these principles.
The core of FSC wood that is used by the majority of our suppliers is to ensure that all forests are environmentally, socially and economically managed. Managers can differentiate themselves from others by applying all 10 principles and criteria. Additionally, wood is distinguishable for the end-user once it has been FSC approved. Using FSC certified products assures that the wood originates from managed forests since the wood has been monitored by independent controls throughout the whole chain.
